How They Met & Their First Date

Real wed2b bride Vania and Jack met in 2018, although given how close they lived to one another it was surprising it didn’t happen earlier. “On our first date we soon found out that we actually lived on roads that were parallel to each other,” says Vania. “For the date, we did a car crawl in a village near us called Moseley. It was so much fun! Later, the night ended with a kebab.”

The Proposal in Manchester

During a weekend escape to Manchester in April 2024, Jack hid the ring under his clothes - afraid Vania might have seen it. When she hadn’t, he decided to keep the moment simple and authentic, proposing privately in their hotel room. “It was just us, without the kids” she says. “Perfect, heartfelt and so unexpected.”

Finding 'The One' – Vania's wed2b Experience

Vania only has one word to describe her visit to wed2b’s Birmingham store, “Great!” she says. “The assistant was so helpful. I wanted to add sleeves to a simple dress and it couldn’t have been easier. The assistant helped me by using a veil to add makeshift sleeves and gave me advice on how a seamstress would be able to add them properly."

The Dress: Stefano by Anna Sorrano

Her dream dress was Stefano by Anna Sorrano, a timeless mermaid silhouette made from luxurious Mikado with minimal detailing, that was ideal for her destination wedding. An understated cuffed sweetheart neckline and a sleek row of covered buttons let the beautiful shape shine. “I loved the simplicity and the material,” she says. “I knew it would never go out of style. The button details going down the back were stunning, too."

The Venue: Borgo Degli Aranci

The couple chose an Italian wedding venue with real wow factor. The family-run Borgo Degli Aranci estate in the heart of Tuscany came with 450 hectares, stunning views, accommodation for up to 150 guests and delicious local food served with the estate’s own sun-kissed wine, Prosecco and Champagne.

Why they chose a real wedding in Tuscany, Italy

“I am originally from Italy,” says Vania. “And, when we went away to visit my family last summer we took the opportunity to view a few venues. I absolutely loved Borgo Degli Aranci, in the Tuscan hills near Pisa. The views were breathtaking and the food was amazing. So, we booked it for our spring wedding on 28th May.”

The wedding day in Tuscany

Wedding morning in the Tuscan sunshine

On the big day, Vania spent the morning getting ready with her mum, four bridesmaids and her five-year-old daughter. “The weather was beautiful sunshine!” she says.

The ceremony & live family music

The happy bride was walked down the aisle by her dad and was also serenaded by her cousin. “During the ceremony my cousin, Ben, sung ‘My Love’ by Whitney Houston. He also sung ‘Birds of a Feather’ by Billie Eilish and ‘Finally’ by CeCe Peniston, while playing the guitar.”

Drinks and Canapés in the Sunshine

Straight after the ceremony guests enjoyed welcome drinks and lots of beautiful Italian food, before the newlyweds posed for photographs.

Dining, First Dance & Evening celebrations

The delicious food continued with a sit down meal of risotto, Tordelli (a traditional Tuscan pasta similar to ravioli) and steak. Later, the couple danced to ‘Latch’ by Sam Smith. “It reminded us of when we were first together,” says Vania. “Plus, it wasn’t too slow or awkward. It had a fun vibe and got everyone dancing with us.”

Olive Theme Wedding Inspiration & DIY Details

The colour scheme for the day was a combination of stylish olive green and white. The couple also gave guests bottles of olive oil as favours and the wedding day itinerary was printed onto fans that were perfect for the hot day. “We were up until midnight the night before finishing them!” says Vania.

A Personalised Fruit Wedding Cake

The wedding cake was a tasty Italian fruit cake with a personalised cake topper made on the morning of the wedding. “On the day of the wedding, once I was ready, my friend took a picture of Jack and I, and made it into our cake toppers!” says Vania.
