Rebecca and Jack both went to the same secondary school. “We were in the same academic year but the first time we spoke was at a party after school, when we were 19,” says Rebecca. “We hit it off and I embarrassingly asked what he was studying four times (I was drunk). My embarrassing self won him over though, and we went to the cinema for our first date afterwards.”

A Christmas proposal

Jack proposed roughly four years after the Christmas party, on Christmas Day. “Jack took me to a field where we commonly spend most of our dates,” says Rebecca. “He got down on one knee when I was admiring the amazing views. Then, when I turned around, he asked me to marry him. I obviously said yes immediately!”

Rebecca bought her dream dress at the WED2B store in Ashford, Kent. “I tried on a few dresses but knew immediately that Winslet was the dress for me,” she says. “The staff were very helpful when I was deciding on the dress and also suggested accessories that might look good with it. I loved how it fitted me, the details, the lace and the off-the-shoulder sleeves. It really complemented my figure.” (For similar styles try Milani, Bruna or Maud)

The couple married at Salomon's Estate, a Victorian mansion near Tunbridge Wells, on the 20th November 2021. “Jack’s relatives got married there and he remembered having a really good experience,” says Rebecca. “When we saw it, we instantly fell in love with the beautiful scenery and knew it was the best fit for us."

The big day

“My bridesmaids and I stayed at the venue’s bridal cottage the night before,” says Rebecca. “The weather was cloudy but not as cold as you would have thought. I didn’t need to wear a jacket."

"In the morning, we got ready in the bridal suite and I did my own makeup. Guests were welcomed by my sister and we asked them to bring photos of us, which they pinned to a big photo board.”

“My dad walked me down the aisle to ‘All of Me’ by John Legend, played by the Rose Gold Trio,” says Rebecca. “Afterwards there were drinks and photographs.”

“Food was served by a gourmet burger bar, and each table was named after a significant life event of ours,” says Rebecca. “For example, we lived in Bath for a year, so a table was called Bath. On each table there was also a couple’s quiz for the guests to test their knowledge of us.”

"The evening started with us cutting the cake and throwing the bouquet,” says Rebecca. “Then for the rest of the night we all partied!”
