If you're planning an autumn themed wedding, you’ll love this happy couple’s rustic barn venue and seasonal colour scheme...

Sarah and Jack met on Jack’s 31st birthday. “I was invited by a mutual friend,” says Sarah. “Our first date was in August 2018, and we went to a pub in London and then for dinner at Dining in the Dark.”

Jack proposed in January 2022 on Sarah’s 30th birthday. “I’m a massive Disney fan and we were in Orlando,” she says. “He popped the question in front of the castle.”

Shopping for the dress

“I visited wed2b’s Camberley store and the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming,” says Sarah. “I also went to the Ashford and Chelmsford stores too.”

Sarah chose Ellwood, a beautiful crepe and lace sheath with full-length sleeves and a wow-factor illusion back. “It looked exactly how I’d imagined my wedding dress would look since I was little!” she says. “I loved everything about it. I also bought a veil from wed2b too, to complete the look.”

A rustic countryside setting

The couple chose Blake Hall, a beautiful barn venue in Essex, for their October wedding. “I know someone who went to a wedding there 16 years ago,” says Sarah. “When I saw the pictures online I thought, 'If I get married one day, I want it to be at that venue’ and it was!"

The big day

“I get ready at the venue with my bridesmaids, my mum and flower girls,” says Sarah. “Mum walked me down the aisle to Elton John’s ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’. We also had ‘You’ll Be In My Heart’ by Phill Collins (from Tarzan) and 'Married Life’ from the movie Up playing as we signed the register. Then ‘He’s a Pirate’ from Pirates of the Caribbean as we exited."

Let’s celebrate!

After the ceremony there were drinks, canapés and photos. “For the wedding breakfast we served patè, followed by roast beef and then cinnamon and apple tart for dessert. Our first dance was to ‘Vacation Eyes’ by the Jonas Brothers. I’m a massive Jonas Brothers fan and Jack also loved the song (they’re now his guilty pleasure!).”

An autumn themed wedding

“The date was 27th October, so we had an autumn themed wedding with orange as the main colour, which was fitting for the time of year,” says Sarah. “We also had a lot of Disney touches. In the evening there was a live band.”

The best bits…

“The most memorable moment of the whole day was the sunset,” says Sarah. “We have some amazing pictures of this. The whole day was just amazing.”

My top tips…

“The day goes fast, enjoy it!” says Sarah.
