Amanda and Andrew met through mutual friends at Amanda’s sister’s house. "Our first date was at my daughter’s 7th birthday,” says Amanda. “I invited Andrew over with his daughter and he brought me flowers.”

Popping the question

“We had taken our kids to the cinema and also for something to eat in Mahon Point in Cork,” says Amanda. “On the way back we stopped at a pub for some food. While we were sitting in the beer garden with the kids Andrew got down on bended knee and proposed. We had been together for two years at the time and it was lovely. The kids were also delighted for us!

“I bought my Nina dress in WED2B’s Dublin store,” says Amanda. “My sister actually chose it and said it was nice. Of course, I tried on a few others but ended up picking the one my sister liked. I was absolutely delighted with it. I also bought a belt, straps and a veil too.” (For similar styles try Nancy, Delphine and Ally)

An intimate wedding

The couple married on 11th September 2020 in Dungarvan Castle, Co Waterford. “Due to the pandemic, it was just us with four guests,” says Amanda. “We had a beautiful civil ceremony in Dungarvan Castle and the sun was shining as my dad walked me in."

"We’d originally booked Las Vegas for March 2020 and then Covid hit, but now I wouldn’t change it for the world. We have beautiful photos in Dungarvan Castle and on the Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny, where we went for our honeymoon. Our photographer was so lovely, she was brilliant.”

“Our wedding cake was stunning and had flowers that matched the ones in my bouquet,” says Amanda. “After the ceremony we had a delicious dinner in Lyrath with my parents. Andrew’s parents also took the kids for a week for us. So, it was stress free and I enjoyed every moment.”
